Caer Sgàil x Petridisch - Chosen Persons (a remix album) - Fan Trivia

Heyo! Jude Kerr here, me and Thor (Petridisch) really liked the idea of making a big blog post about the Chosen Persons remix album for you all to be able to read and sip your coffee to.

Anyway, without further we do! Here is the Chosen Trivia, is that a good name?

The EP art is a picture inside the hall of my house in Wishaw, Scotland. The lamp was a recent little purchase from my maw and it's meant to resemble an astronaut. I sent six photos over for ideas one of them being this photo here:

The first original photo of the astronaut lamp that would inspire the photo pictured on the remix album "Chosen Persons" by Caer Sgàil and Petridisch. The only real differences are that this is taken on a crappy charity shop Chinese e-waste camera and the actual Chosen Persons art would be taken on Jude's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. Also, the picture on the final cover is a different angle so then the text could be placed in nicely.

The photo was quite recently taken on this shitty little camera I bought from a charity shop on Main Street and was playing around with and snapped a photo of the lamp, unaware that it would spark the album cover.

Before that I had this photo taken with the same camera at The Golden Fry of my sister reading something I think? Anyway, I told Thor I didn't like it and he agreed it was too busy.

The original concept art of the "Chosen Persons" album designed by Jude Kerr, who's pipe did he smoke?

Petridisch has said that his remix titles for this album are directly influenced by the 80's work of Mixmaster Phil Harding and PWL Records 12" versions.

Petridisch heard Caer Sgàil for the first time on August 16th from me promoting the Error Prone Records issue of It's The People We Choose on cassette tape (and he bought one the day he heard it!).

That very same day he'd ask if there is any remix space for It's The Remixes We Choose where I'd have to sadly turn him down and tell him that all space has been taken and the EP was finished. That would ultimately lead to me offering the full EP to him which I love that we got something out of it because I absolutely love Chosen Persons and can't imagine a world without it.

The vantage point of the back cover of Chosen Persons is not unknown to Petridisch (or his work for that matter). The particular view of the Boston skyline from his apartment porch has featured in some form or another on at least two other projects of his. He truly believed he was getting unique views every time.

During the making Petridisch kept having to remind me the name of the album is "Chosen Persons" as I kept incorrectly calling it "Chosen Personas". Imagine an alternate universe Caer Sgàil that ended up having that as the album name haha.

The limited edition 2025 cassette tape release features two tracks:

A. Chosen Persons (Continuous Album Mix)
B. Moon Cycles

"Moon Cycles" came from when Petridisch sent me the photo of the mock-up "Side B" of the tape and I made a comment because he sent me the image but flipped and make a little joke out of the idea that it's also a reversed version which was exactly what he'd do!

It sounds oddly good? Which is funny to me but I love it!

The track name for Side B is not even named on the tape or anywhere! This is your first official source saying this.

Original title ideas were

  • snosreP nesohC (Jude)
  • Up the Hill Backwards (Petridisch - inspired by David Bowie)
  • Mooncircles (Petridisch)

The name "Moon Cycles" is inspired by the album art! The art is a picture of an "Astronaut" lamp, which is the main inspiration for me to pitch the "Moon Cycles" name. It is inspired by the art also the fact that Moon Cycles (or phases) are a very real thing that influence tides and Earth's stability through gravity, and affect biological rhythms in many organisms, such as triggering reproduction and migration.

Moon cycles also influence Earth’s tides and help stabilise the planet’s tilt, which keeps our seasons and climate steady.

Thank You!

That's all our facts (for now!) We hope you enjoy the Chosen Persons album and continue to support both Caer Sgàil and Petridisch.
